Book Cover Reveal: While You’re Awake

I’m back on the blog after a summer hiatus! As I get back into the swing of things, my first post back is a book cover reveal for Amber Stokes’ upcoming novelette, While You’re Awake.

Isn’t this a lovely cover? It’s a perfect transition for us as we go from summer into fall. I love the coloring, the side lighting, Ava’s dress, and her ring, too. (I just spent the morning looking at Noonday jewelry online … so it’s on the brain.)

I’m also particularly excited, because the story is a re-imagining of Sleeping Beauty – which is my favorite Disney movie (aside from The Rescuers … Bernard is just the cutest! But I digress).

The novelette (which, in case you were curious, is longer than a novella but shorter than a short story) releases on October 20, and is currently on sale for $0.99. What a deal!

Sweet New Adult Contemporary Romance Novelette

There’s no rest for the fearful.

Ava always knew the bees would come. Just when she’s settled into a place of her own, freelance editing and savoring her independence, her rental house is invaded by a swarm of honey bees. And with their arrival, her lifelong fear morphs into a full-fledged panic that steals her sleep—and her peace of mind.

Keegan knows all about fear. When he meets Ava at the coffee shop where he works, he can’t help but come to her rescue. Together with his German shepherds, Sun and Moon, he sets out to break the “curse” that hovers over Tired Girl. But is it possible to conquer nightmares and live a dream while you’re awake?

This sweet novelette is a contemporary re-imagining of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale that sheds light on the worries that bind us and the love that leads to peace.

  1. Aw, I’m honored the reveal of Ava and Keegan’s cover is your first post after your hiatus! 🙂 (I hope you had a wonderful summer, BTW!) Thank you so much for sharing this and for your friendship!

I hope you’ll enjoy the Sleeping Beauty elements in the story. 🙂 What’s your favorite part about the Disney version?

    1. Thanks Amber!! 🙂 xoxo! Mmm … it’s so hard to choose what I love about Sleeping Beauty. I love all of the older Disney movies – Cinderella, Snow White, Lady and The Tramp (except the Siamese cats), etc. – when they have the giant introduction (that’s long enough to go make popcorn) that’s just so spectacular and sort of old-fashioned. Prince Philip is also just such a wonderful guy … falling in love with Aurora without even knowing she was the one their parents had chosen for him. Kind of epic! 🙂

      1. LOL about the Siamese cat comment! Agreed. 😉

Love what you note about the older introductions. And you know, oddly enough (since we’re such big Disney fans in my family), I don’t think we had Sleeping Beauty growing up. I feel like I saw it somewhere, and I *think* I’ve seen the whole thing… I’m familiar with the story, anyway! But I ended up buying a copy tonight at Target! Prince Philip is such a dashing hero, for sure. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

        xoxo back!
