About Samara’s Peril

When news arrives that Emperor Daican has been in contact with his chief war strategist, it signals potential doom for the country of Samara. Determined to intervene, the resistance in Landale, headed by Lady Anne, embark on a covert mission in hopes of unearthing further information. However, a shocking discovery leads to complications no one could have foreseen.
Armed with their newfound knowledge, they set out for Samara to warn the king. War is inevitable, and they must face two desperate battles—one on the walls of Samara’s great stronghold, and the other on the battlefield of Jace’s heart, where victory might only be achievable through great sacrifice.

My Take

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of Samara’s Peril in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

I will read anything by Jaye L. Knight. Truly. I fell in love with Resistance (book 1 in the Ilyon Chronicles series) and have never looked back.

Samara’s Peril does not disappoint! It’s full of action, adventure, romance; in fact, somewhat reminiscent of The Princess Bride:

“Does it got any sports in it?”
“Are you kidding? Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, True Love, miracles….”

Yep. I think that about captures Samara’s Peril for me. 🙂

It’s often the case in book series that a sequel is not quite up to par with the first or earlier books in said series. Thankfully, that has never been the case with Ilyon Chronicles; in fact, each book seems to get progressively better and better. Samara’s Peril is nearly on par with the previous book in the series, The King’s Scrolls; this is an admirable achievement, as TKS is a gut-wrenchingly beautiful book, and my favorite to date.

Certain long-awaited events occur in Samara’s Peril, and they absolutely met my expectations. Despite a heartbreaking climax to the book, the denouement was handled with grace and set a positive tone for future books. I am eagerly anticipating the series’ continuation and applaud Jaye L. Knight for another winner in the Ilyon Chronicles series!
